Find Your Place Here

Since 1839, we’ve been a place of faith in the heart of downtown Houston.

As the Cathedral for the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, we believe God is in the midst of the city and in your life.

We are an open and affirming community. We welcome people of all races, identities, and backgrounds. Whoever you are, and whatever your story, you are welcome here. We hope you’ll find inspired worship and a community where you can grow.

First Visit Tips

We want your first Sunday to be simple!

  • Where do I park?

Park for free in the Cathedral Garage (on San Jacinto between Texas and Prairie). An officer will be stationed at the crosswalk to help you safely cross the street to the Cathedral.

  • Where do I go?

Enter through the Cloister (the covered walkway). You’ll be greeted by volunteers who can provide a bulletin, answer questions, and help you find your way around our historic campus.

  • What's the difference between worship services?

The primary difference between Rite I (8 a.m. and 11 a.m.) and Rite II (9 a.m. and 1 p.m.) is the language used:

    • Rite I uses traditional, formal language (e.g., “The Lord be with you,” and the response, “And with thy spirit“).
    • Rite II uses more contemporary language.

Take a look at our detailed service descriptions to help you decide which one is best for you.

  • What should I wear?

You will see a mix of styles! Sunday mornings tend to be a bit “dressier,” with many people in their Sunday best. Our 5 p.m. service, The Well, is very casual—come exactly as you are.

  • Accessibility & Drop-Off

    Handicapped Parking

Available on every level of the Cathedral Garage next to the elevators.

    Drop-Off Zone

On Sunday mornings, the spaces on Texas Avenue nearest the Cathedral entrance are reserved for those needing assistance.

    Valet Parking

Available Sunday mornings on Texas Avenue for parishioners with mobility issues.

  • Holiday Parking (Christmas & Easter)

To ensure a stress-free experience during our busiest services, please:

    Arrive Early

We recommend allowing an extra 15 minutes for parking.

    Use Valet

Valet service on Texas Avenue remains available for those with mobility issues.
