Service at the Cathedral is like a ripple in a pond—the time and talent you give here extends far into the Houston community. Whether you have one hour a week or one day a year, there is a place for your hands and heart.
Hospitality Ministries
The ministry of welcome ensures that every person who enters our doors feels the warmth of Christ.
Welcome Team
Greet newcomers and fellow parishioners before and after services. A perfect way to learn names and faces.
Time: 2 hours/month

Cathedral Tour Guides
Share our rich history and beautiful stained glass with visitors.
Time: Sundays after service or Wednesday midday

Reception Committee
Host celebrations for Confirmations, Evensongs, and special events.
Time: 3–4 hours per event (6x/year)

Annual Event Volunteers
Help us pull off our biggest community days, including Boo Bash, May Fete, and the Alternative Giving Market.
Worship Support Ministries
Enable our 800+ annual services to flourish through dedicated liturgical support.
Altar Guild
Prepare the sacred vessels, linens, and flowers for worship. Open to both men and women.
Time: 2 hours/month
Ushers
Ensure our services are dignified, well-ordered, and welcoming to all.
Time: 1.5–2 hours/month
Acolytes (Grades 7–12)
Assist clergy at the altar during the liturgy.

Liturgical Lay Ministry
Serve as Lay Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, or Worship Leaders.
Time: Varies (Training & Licensing required)
Worship Bag Crew
Resupply the children’s activity bags during the week.

Outreach & Community Impact
Work directly with those in need through our historic downtown partnerships.

Assist with intake, laundry, showers, or serving hot lunch.

Become a mentor for women transitioning from incarceration to self-sufficiency.

Help neighbors navigate resources or manage client mail.
Time: 2–3 hours/week

Cathedral Clinic
Serve as a clinic assistant or volunteer clinician (current license required).

Kids Hope
Commit to being a mentor or reading buddy for one hour a week at a local school.

Lord of the Streets (LOTS)
Cook breakfast for the street community (6:15 a.m. shifts) or sort clothing and mail during the week.
