Safeguarding Our Community
Creating a Safe and Sacred Space for All
Christ Church Cathedral is committed to maintaining a safe, healthy, and respectful environment for everyone who walks through our doors. Through the Safeguarding program, we equip our staff and volunteers with the tools and awareness needed to prevent abuse, harassment, and exploitation.
Training Programs
Safeguarding God’s Children (SGC)
Protecting our youngest members. This training focuses on the prevention of sexual abuse of children and youth. It provides participants with the essential information needed to protect children in their personal lives and within our ministries.
- Who is it for? Required for all paid staff and any volunteers working directly with children or youth.
- The Mission: To change lives by ensuring every adult is a protector of the next generation.
Safeguarding God’s People (SGP)
Promoting respect in ministry. This program addresses the prevention of sexual harassment and exploitation within communities of faith. By exploring both subtle and overt behaviors, SGP helps us foster a culture of awareness and integrity.
- Who is it for? Required for all staff and diocesan leaders to ensure our words, actions, and intentions align with our call to ministry.
- The Aim: To create a community where everyone can serve without fear of exploitation or harassment.
