About the Group

Discover the power of the Collect—a traditional form of prayer designed to focus our hearts, clarify our needs, and deepen our relationship with God.

Collects are a particular form of prayer that lie at the center of our Episcopal worship.  Collects focus our hearts and minds on the purpose of our prayer for a particular day and occasion.  The Book of Common Prayer is filled with collects for all types of seasons and occasions, including every Sunday throughout the year.  Collects can offer a powerful way for us to clarify and express our needs and desires to God.

About the Series

Join Dean Katz for a monthly virtual gathering on Zoom to engage with Collects as a means of growing in relationship with God and one another.   Each session will invite participants to reflect upon Collects from the Book of Common prayer before writing their own collects based on prompts from scripture and the seasons (liturgical, natural and otherwise).

It is not required to attend every session and no prior experience with collect or prayer writing is required.  Registration is required for access to login information and to receive follow up materials after each session.
