Deepen your faith. Discover your ministry.
Every baptized Christian is called to ministry. Education for Ministry (EfM) is a small-group journey that helps you connect scripture, tradition, and everyday life through study, prayer, and honest conversation.
Next cohort beginning September 8, 2026.
Is EfM Right for You?
You don’t need a theology degree—or all the answers—to participate. EfM welcomes curious Christians who want to grow in faith alongside others, ask meaningful questions, and discover how God is at work in their lives.
You might enjoy EfM if you…
- Wonder how faith connects to everyday life.
- Want to understand Scripture more deeply.
- Enjoy thoughtful conversation and asking questions.
- Are looking for a committed Christian community.
- Feel called to grow spiritually.
- Want to better understand your own ministry in the world.
What Makes EfM Different?
EfM is more than a Bible study. Each week combines academic learning with Theological Reflection—a practice of bringing scripture, tradition, personal experience, and today’s world into conversation. The result isn’t simply more knowledge, but a deeper way of seeing God at work in everyday life.
Study
Explore Scripture, theology, ethics, and church history.
Discuss
Learn alongside others in honest, respectful conversation.
Reflect
Practice connecting faith with the experiences of daily life.
Grow
Deepen your faith and discover your ministry in the world.
“Participating in EfM fundamentally altered the course of my thinking and being in the Christian faith… the combination of study, reflection, and conversation was nothing short of life changing.”
— EfM Graduate
Your Journey
EfM is designed as a four-year curriculum, with participants committing one year at a time. Each year builds on the last, helping you develop both a deeper understanding of the Christian tradition and a lifelong practice of theological reflection.
Traditional EfM
Years 1–2
Explore the Hebrew Scriptures, the Gospels, and the New Testament.
Year 3
Discover the rich and complex history of the Christian Church.
Year 4
Study Christian theology while developing your own spiritual practices and understanding of ministry.
Wide Angle
Looking for a place to begin? Wide Angle is a one-year introduction to the breadth of the Christian tradition. It offers an overview of scripture, church history, ethics, spiritual practices, and theological reflection, making it an excellent way to experience EfM without the longer commitment.
What to Expect
EfM is built around a consistent weekly rhythm of study, conversation, and prayer. Participants often find that this steady practice becomes one of the most meaningful parts of their spiritual lives.
Schedule
Tuesday evenings
6:30–9:00 p.m.
Beginning September 8, 2026
Weekly Rhythm
Approximately two hours of reading and preparation each week, with 36 gatherings throughout the year, meeting online via Zoom.
Investment
Tuition is $350 per year, plus textbooks available through the Cathedral Bookstore. Financial assistance is available because we want everyone who feels called to participate to have the opportunity to do so.
“My faith deepened because of my classmates… We shared honestly in a safe and trusting space. That experience showed me what true Christian community looks like.”
— EfM Graduate
