Reception
Thursday, June 11, 5:30–7:30 p.m.

Omniah Ebeid is a Houston-based contemporary artist working in acrylic and mixed media. Her paintings often incorporate materials she has gathered during her business and personal travels over the past 40 years. She also focuses on using discarded elements which she views as symbols of resilience and reinvention. Transforming these materials into something meaningful is central to her creative process. Although she has been creating and painting since early childhood, she has been focusing more on creating since 2024 as she tries to step away from a long career as an international lawyer.
Omniah often draws inspiration from nature and the human journey. Her paintings try to show the complexity of life and interconnectedness of all things and how small moments contribute to the larger mosaic of life. By layering and blending different materials in her paintings, she creates layered and tactile pieces that invite the viewer to look deeper into each painting and appreciate the complexity of all things. Whether evoking serenity, joy, sadness, tension, or introspection, her work is guided by a desire to not just depict but to move the viewer to feel something. And while she hopes each piece carries a part of her own story, she ultimately wants viewers to find something of themselves in her pieces.
Omniah works from her studio at the Silos at Sawyer Yards where she regularly participates in juried and non-juried exhibitions. One of her large-scale pieces has been showing at George Bush International Airport for a year as part of Houston’s Airport Art Program.

Art as Transformation
Omniah Ebeid works in acrylic and mixed media, incorporating discarded and recycled materials that she views not merely as tools, but as symbols of resilience, transformation, and reinvention. By combining and layering these materials, she transforms them into elements of beauty and meaning — inviting viewers to look deeper and appreciate the complexity of all things.
Her work draws inspiration from nature and the human journey, exploring the interconnectedness of life and how small moments contribute to the larger mosaic of existence. In every piece, she seeks not just to depict, but to move — evoking serenity, happiness, tension, or even anger. While each work carries a part of her own story, she ultimately hopes viewers will find something of themselves within it.
A Creative Life, Decades in the Making
Art has been part of Omniah’s life since the age of five. Her earliest artistic memories were formed in her mother’s studio — an accomplished artist who handed her brushes, paints, and tools and simply encouraged her to create. That relationship continues today, with her mother still regularly critiquing her work and inspiring her growth.
Her curiosity carried forward into her college years, where she studied metalsmithing, jewelry design, printmaking, ceramics, and painting. She then built a long career as an international lawyer working on justice reforms in developing countries across the globe — but never stopped creating. In recent years, she has returned more fully to her true passion, seeing her artwork as the most rounded expression of who she truly is.
