Alison Smith serves as Assistant to the Office of the Dean at Christ Church Cathedral, where she provides administrative support to the Dean’s office and helps strengthen the Cathedral’s ministry and daily operations. Drawing on a background in social work and nonprofit leadership, Alison brings a deep commitment to caring for people while supporting the systems that enable communities to flourish.

A native Houstonian, Alison earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Loyola University Chicago before spending time in Rome and Boston. She later returned to Houston to complete her Master of Social Work at the University of Houston’s Graduate College of Social Work.

Alison is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional. She has extensive experience in hospice care and nonprofit ministry, including roles with Bo’s Place and Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston. Throughout her career, she has combined compassionate care with organizational leadership, helping strengthen the ministries and communities she has served.

Outside of work, Alison enjoys reading, spending time with dogs, and watching delightfully bad reality television. She also has an impressive knowledge of classic pop culture and is a formidable teammate for movie trivia nights.
