The Movable Feast

Beginning at 9:00 a.m.

What if one Sunday was set aside for a holy adventure—a morning when worship, learning, fellowship, and a shared meal all come together?

Welcome to The Movable Feast, a special Sunday experience for the whole family at Christ Church Cathedral.

On select Sundays throughout the program year, families are invited to spend the morning together at the Cathedral, moving from worship to formation to fellowship around the table.

Worship

9:00 a.m.

Begin the morning by worshiping together as a Cathedral family. The Movable Feast is especially designed to help families experience the full rhythm of Sunday together, with children welcomed and celebrated as an important part of our worshiping community.

Formation

10:00 a.m.

Following worship, there is something for everyone during the Formation Hour.

Children ages 2 through 5th grade gather for Children’s Sunday School, youth in 6th through 12th grade gather for Youth Sunday School, and adults can take part in the Dean’s Hour and other formation opportunities.

It’s a chance for the whole family to learn, ask questions, build relationships, and grow in faith.

Feast & Fellowship

11:00 a.m.

Then we gather around the table!

The Children & Family Ministries Council hosts a lunchtime celebration for the whole family. Each Movable Feast features something different to enjoy together—from build-your-own sandwiches and walking tacos to fajitas, quesadillas, brunch, and more.

The meal is about more than what’s on the menu. It’s an opportunity for children to play, adults to connect, newcomers to meet the Cathedral community, and families to simply enjoy being together.

Why “The Movable Feast”?

The name draws from the Christian liturgical calendar, where celebrations such as Easter and Pentecost are called moveable feasts because their dates change from year to year.

Our Movable Feast moves around the Cathedral calendar, too. Rather than meeting on the same Sunday each month, gatherings are planned around the rhythms of church life, school schedules, holidays, and family life.

At its heart, The Movable Feast is an invitation to experience the fullness of Sunday together: worship, formation, fellowship, and the table.
