About The Event

Join us this Sunday as Dean Katz welcomes Shariq Abdul Ghani, Executive Director of Bridges — a Houston-based multi-faith organization on a mission to help people of faith become better neighbors.

Bridges brings together diverse faith communities not just for conversation, but for collaboration — through dialogue, shared meals, athletic events, and neighborhood partnerships that move beyond “getting to know each other” toward something deeper: working side by side on the things that matter most. It’s interfaith engagement with sleeves rolled up.

Shariq is currently pursuing his Master’s in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution with a focus on peacebuilding from Columbia University. His work is driven by a simple but powerful conviction: that the intersections between communities are where the most meaningful growth happens. In a city as beautifully diverse as Houston, that conviction finds fertile ground.

Shariq will explore what it looks like for faith communities to move from awareness to action — and how Christ Church Cathedral can be a partner in building a Houston where people of faith are known as good neighbors.

All are welcome. No registration required.

The Dean’s Hour is a weekly Sunday morning conversation series exploring what it means to live faithfully in a complex world.
