About The Event

Casa Mateo is a house of welcome for displaced immigrants and asylum seekers, offering hope, hospitality, and essential support services that help families move toward self-sufficiency. For many residents, Casa Mateo is the first place they have felt safe and cared for after a long and difficult journey. Behind that hospitality is a great deal of practical work, and that’s where our Cathedral community can help.

On Saturday, August 1, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, volunteers from Christ Church Cathedral will join Casa Mateo staff to organize and clean parts of the facility’s storage area, helping ensure that donated clothing, household goods, and supplies can be easily found and put to use by the families who need them. No special skills are required, just willing hands and a servant’s heart. After the work is done, we’ll gather with resident families for a shared lunch, a chance to break bread together and build community across languages and cultures.

This Service Day is a hands-on opportunity to live out our call to welcome the stranger and love our neighbor. Whether you can lift boxes, sort donations, or simply share a meal and a smile, there is a place for you.

Registration is required. For the safety and privacy of Casa Mateo’s residents, the exact address will be shared with registered participants one week prior to the event.
