Palm Sunday: Liturgy of the Palms — Holy Eucharist, Rite I
Sunday, March 29
11:00 am - 12:00 pm
About The Event
At the heart of Palm Sunday is a profound spiritual paradox. The same crowds who cry “Hosanna!” will, within days, cry “Crucify him.” The same hands that wave palms will turn away. Palm Sunday asks us to sit with that tension honestly — to recognize ourselves in the story, and to follow Jesus anyway, deeper into Holy Week and toward the mystery of Easter.
Our principal Sunday service gathers the full Cathedral community for the Liturgy of the Palms, beginning with a joyful procession before the service moves into the solemn reading of the Passion Gospel. Celebrated in the traditional language of Rite I, this service draws on the rich liturgical heritage of the Anglican tradition. The stately rhythms of its prayers and confession carry a gravity well-suited to this day — a day that asks something of us even as it gives us much. All are welcome to worship with us as Holy Week begins.
