Celebrate Houston’s international soccer season at Christ Church Cathedral! Join us for the kickoff of our special Wednesday morning summer organ series, Sounds of the World: Pipes, Praise & Soccer. Whether you are a lifelong music lover or a first-time listener, these 30-minute mini-concerts offer a vibrant mix of beloved classics and fun, soccer-inspired global tunes that celebrate music, culture, and community.

This week, we are thrilled to welcome guest organist Laura Felicity Smith from Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church to showcase the power and beauty of the Cathedral pipe organ.

Event Schedule & Highlights

  • 10:30–11:00 a.m.Sounds of the World Mini-Recital featuring Laura Felicity Smith. Expect to hear everything from majestic classics like Bach or Widor to recognizable sports anthems!

  • Cathedral Tours & Open Prayer – Explore the historic beauty of the oldest church in Houston, open for quiet meditation and guided tours.
  • 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.Cathedral Bookstore Open: Browse a wonderful selection of books, gifts, and unique finds before or after the concert.
  • 12:00 p.m. – Noonday Prayer & Holy Eucharist in the peaceful Golding Chapel.

  • Lunch at Treebeards – Head over to the Cloister after the music for some legendary, comforting Southern food!

Admission: Free and open to the public. Bring a friend, escape the Houston heat, and experience the grandeur of the Cathedral organ!
