SUMMARY:Noonday Prayer
DESCRIPTION:A Midday Moment for Peace\nIn the middle of an ordinary day\, something extraordinary is available to you: a few quiet minutes of prayer\, scripture\, and stillness. Christ Church Cathedral’s Noonday Prayer is a brief 15-minute service offered every weekday in the intimate space of Golding Chapel — a chance to pause\, reorient your spirit\, and remember what matters most before returning to the demands of the day. \nAbout the Service\nRooted in the ancient tradition of fixed-hour prayer\, Noonday Prayer is simple and unhurried. There is no registration\, no preparation\, and no cost — only an open door and a welcome for anyone who wants to step away from the noise of the world for a little while. Whether you are a lifelong worshiper or someone simply curious about prayer\, you are welcome here. \nMondays – Fridays | 12:05 p.m. | Golding Chapel \nWednesdays: Stay for the Eucharist\nOn Wednesdays\, the service extends a little further. Following Noonday Prayer\, we offer the Eucharist — Holy Communion — for any who wish to stay. It is a simple\, quiet celebration of the sacrament\, and a meaningful way to mark the middle of the week in the presence of God and community. \nAll are welcome. No registration required. Free.

SUMMARY:Collect Writing with Dean Katz
DESCRIPTION:Discover the power of the Collect—a traditional form of prayer designed to focus our hearts\, clarify our needs\, and deepen our relationship with God. \nWhat is a Collect?\nCollects are a unique form of prayer at the center of Episcopal worship. Whether found in The Book of Common Prayer for specific Sundays or written for personal occasions\, a Collect helps focus our minds on a specific purpose. Beyond the prayer book\, the structure of the Collect provides a beautiful template for shaping our own personal prayers. \nAbout the Series\nBeginning this fall\, Dean Katz will convene a monthly gathering to explore the Collect as a means of spiritual growth. Each session includes: \n\n\nReflection: Studying existing collects from The Book of Common Prayer. \n\n\nCreation: Writing original collects based on prompts from Scripture and the seasons (liturgical and natural). \n\n\nCommunity: Sharing our written prayers and spending time in prayer together. \n\n\n\n\nMonthly Zoom Gatherings\nFollowing the intro session\, we will meet monthly online. These sessions take place on the second Wednesday of the month from 7:00–8:00 p.m. \n2026 Dates: \n\n\nJanuary 14 \n\n\nFebruary 11 \n\n\nMarch 11 \n\n\nApril 8 \n\n\nMay 13 \n\n\nHow to Join: Please email Louise Langford at llangford@christchurchcathedral.org to receive the Zoom link and participation details.

SUMMARY:Ascension Day Noonday Prayer with Eucharist
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a midday moment of reflection and renewal. \nAbout the Service\nWe invite you to step away from the busyness of the week for a special Ascension Day service in the serene setting of Golding Chapel. This service combines our traditional Noonday Prayer with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. \n\nWhat is Ascension Day?\nAscension Day marks the 40th day of Easter\, commemorating the Christian belief in the bodily ascension of Jesus into heaven. It is a significant feast day that signifies the transition of Christ’s presence from a physical\, earthly form to a spiritual\, universal presence—reminding us that he remains with us always\, even as we carry out his work in the world today. \nThe Gift of Noonday Prayer\nIn the midst of a frantic workday or a crowded schedule\, Noonday Prayer offers a vital “spiritual breathing point.” This brief\, 25-minute service allows you to: \n\n\nPause and Recenter: Find stillness and silence in a sacred space. \n\n\nConnect with Community: Gather with others for shared liturgy and prayer. \n\n\nBe Nourished: Receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist to sustain you for the remainder of your week. \n\n\nWhether you are a regular communicant or simply seeking a quiet place to reflect\, all are welcome at the Lord’s table. \n\n\n“While he was blessing them\, he withdrew from them and was carried up into heaven.” — Luke 24:51

SUMMARY:Bridge & Rummikub Night
DESCRIPTION:Looking for a fun\, low-key way to connect with fellow Cathedral members? On the first Friday of each month\, parishioners gather in the McGehee Room for an evening of Bridge and Rummikub — two classic games that are equal parts strategy\, fun\, and good company. \nWhether you’re a seasoned Bridge player who lives for a well-executed finesse\, or you’d rather build your way to victory with Rummikub tiles\, there’s a seat at the table for you. This is a welcoming\, casual night — no competition required\, just a love of games and the people who play them. Bring a snack to share and settle in for a relaxed evening that’s as much about fellowship as it is about the cards. \nNo registration needed — just show up! The group meets rain or shine on the first Friday of every month (with a break in July). \nFor more information\, contact Elizabeth Cuevas
