Dear Cathedral Family,

I am writing with joyful updates about several additions to our Cathedral staff and clergy family.

It is a pleasure to announce that the Rev. Andrew Doss will join our clergy team as Curate, providing leadership for our Welcome Ministry. Andrew was ordained a deacon in New Orleans and will be ordained a priest in 2027. He will begin his ministry with us on Monday, July 27, beginning full-time ministry at the Cathedral on Sunday, August 23.

His ministry centers on how liturgy, the arts, and justice form beloved community. Before ordained ministry, he served more than a decade in law and public service at the local, state, and international levels. He holds a Master of Divinity from Yale University, where he studied within the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. He is also an enthusiast for crawfish boils and making up songs with friends on the porch. We look forward to the many gifts he will bring to our common life.

I am equally delighted to announce that Alison Smith has joined the Cathedral as Assistant to the Office of the Dean starting this Thursday, July 9.

A native Houstonian, Alison is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience in hospice care and nonprofit ministry, including service with Bo’s Place and Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston. She holds a Master of Social Work from The University of Houston and has devoted her career to caring for others and strengthening the organizations and communities they serve. She will be a tremendous asset to the Office of the Dean and to our Cathedral community.

Finally, a joyful reminder that Joe Causby has joined our Cathedral staff as our new Director of Music and Organist.

We look forward to welcoming him in worship on Sunday, July 19, when he will lead music for the first time. Please plan to be with us as we celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in our Cathedral’s rich musical tradition.

I hope that you will join me in welcoming Andrew, Alison, and Joe to our Cathedral family, and in giving thanks for the ways God continues to bless this community with faithful and gifted servants.
